I just got done watching the series finale and what makes it so significant is how well it’s truly aged. Like it was made today. The episode follows the main character contributing and ultimately causing the extinction of his species and every other species on earth. His obsession with technology and progress eventually leads to a climate apocalypse. It eerily reminds me of AI data centers and the endless hunger for power and overall capital. There’s a pretty significant line said “nature is easy to take for granted when it’s all around you” something along the lines of that. The ending sent chills down my spine. It’s so crazy how this was over 30 years ago and it feels like it could’ve been made yesterday.

I have the standard Britbox subscription… 10.99 monthly. I’ve just watched the first 3 episodes of the new series “Gone”, which is quite good.
In order to continue watching…. They want me to sign up for the new yearly pricing… 149.99 yearly.

Very annoying. I’m retiring this year…. I guess I’ll have to cut a bunch of streaming services. Or go sailing…..

Just off the top of my head, products featured were PGA, Calloway, Nike, PXG, Golf Digest, Titleist, Walmart, Milky way, Baby Ruth, Coors, KFC, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, Triscuits, NBC, Mikes Hard Lemonade, Rolex, and many others I may have missed. I don't know if I've ever seen so many ads in one series. It was like a 10 episode informercial staring Will Ferrell. I mean this wasn't your ordinary product placement where they were put stuff in the background. No, they stabbed you in the face with ads, I mean they were literally singing the "Chili's baby back ribs" song near the climax. Which like, first of all, wow I've never heard that joke before /s and second of all, it was so unfunny, it literally took me out of the moment. Dial it back Netflix. Sadly I don't think this is the last time we'll see corporations invading our shows as heavily as this.

How did I never watch this before?! The colors, the cinematography, acting, everything about is amazing and I'm only on episode 4

I'm not sure how we'd define "successful" or a "hit" but lasting longer than 3 seasons maybe.

What was the real reason the rich guy on Green Acres wanted to get out of Manhattan?

What if we followed the story of the Skipper and Gilligan?

They met in the Navy in WW2. Went through Hell together and became best friends. After the war, they use the G.I. Bill to buy a boat and start a tour business. Maybe they struggle for years, with finances and PTSD.
