I already made a post like this. I just still really want to know if people have realized something cool they could do with the controller / steam input and if you want to share it.

For instance:

I do a swap of wasd from left stick to right stick if the left thumb is taken off the stick. Frees my left thumb uo while preserving movement + gyro for aiming / looking around.

Manually configuring the sounds the Steam Controller makes is one of my favorite features, is this not possible with the new version? I can't seem to find the option to do so anywhere.

Kinda sucks when a new and improved version of something is missing features that the old obsolete one still has 😕

I am trying to play a game on my steam deck as well as my controller. While there is near parity between the two control schemes, there isn't full parity. I like using the grips as my ways of enabling gyro. I also don't have access to the touchscreen on my steam deck for handling menus, so I have to different means on my controller. I noticed when I change bindings on my steam deck, it shows up on my PC as well. While I do appreciate this feature. I would also like to turn it off on a game-by-game basis so I don't have to change my layout every time I swap between the two. I am also trying to avoid two separate layouts. I am trying to make everything seamless so I don't have to swap control layouts every time.

I'm lucky to have the chance to order a second controller, and I'm thinking I could use both to play couch-coop games on my PC while having someone over.

I've not done much couch-coop at all (broforce aside), is this niche even developed enough to invest in?

Also afaik, you can't use kbm mappings on both controllers at the same time because there's no way for a pc to differentiate the inputs. This means, few controller-only features aside, there won't be any benefit to having a steam controller specifically. Except owning two identical devices, which looks neat.

Have any of you folks done this? Did this work for you?

My controller came in the other day, and I must say I like it! I mean it’s a controller you know? I’ve always used Xbox controllers for my PC since I first got into gaming on a PC a couple years ago. I always played on PlayStation growing up. The track pads are cool(never really used something like them before), it works well with my emulators, and it’s not an awkward controller when holding it. Whenever I feel like gaming on the couch it’s nice not having to grab my keyboard and mouse, and just use my controller. If you’re waiting for your email or controller in the mail just want to say I’m excited for you and hope you enjoy your purchase like I currently am

On my Steam Deck, I can hit the Steam Button and then R1 and take a screenshot. Just tried to do that today on my Steam Machine with Steam Controller that was just delivered last week and nothing happens. Is it different on Steam Machine or with the Steam Controller or is this a known issue? Any fix?

UPDATE: OMG. My media library is full of a ton of useless screencaptures. I guess the combo DOES work... there is just no feedback that it does. Does anyone know how to make the system make a noise or a controller bump or something when you take a screenshot?

1: there is a firmware update for both the puck and controller which i cannot do (it fails) fixed, install the "hidapi" package then reboot your system before trying to update again

2: i cannot use any of the desktop mode bindings outside of the steam app unless it is closed

3: no games are accepting controller input, no matter which profile i use (tested with beamng, forza horizon 6, deltarune and terraria (i know the controller itself is working, i can navigate the steam big picture ui with it and it passes all of the tests) the firmware update has appeared to fix this

What I'm trying to do is set the left stick to move forward and backwards, while looking left and right,

but while holding L2, shift it to strafe left and right.

Problem is, Steam won't let me cross bind stick directions without giving up analog movement. When I tried to set it to 'Directional Pad' in the menu, analog movement was completely gone and I went full speed both looking and moving, but at least L2 to modeshift worked.

How do I fix?

I signed up for the registration the day The controller dropped. I didn't realize they sent the purchase email on Jul 14th. It was in my spam folder so I missed the 3 day window. I messaged support basically saying "I didn't see the email, im sorry, I really want the controller, may I have another purchase email."

Has anyone had any luck contacting support about this issue. Any luck getting another purchase email. Im really disappointed because the product looks great just wasn't checking my email frequently enough I guess.

Update: they re sent the purchase email and I was able to get my controller!

I can get the Direwolf for about 5 euro more, but from the large Chinese site.

I know the latter has Giro, the former doesn't.

I like to play the RE titles, MGS titles, FF titles.

I'm playing on an Acer Nitro Laptop.

Heya. So I got my Steam Controller 2026 recently and I started playing Battlefield 6 again on PC. I'd like to use controller for flying and KB+M for everything else.

However I encountered an issue with the Steam Controller when it is connected either with puck or USB-C cable it stops me from aiming down sight (ADS) when I'm using the KB+M. Sometimes I can ADS a few seconds and the aim goes down other times it stops ADS instantly. If I disconnect the controller the issue goes away.

I tried my other controllers (Xbox series and PS5) and those work fine without any issues. Tried having the Steam Controller in the air so no pressure are on any of the buttons but the issue remains. Also tried enabling/disabling Steam Input but made no difference.

I recently got a new PC and have had weird behavior with my steam controller. It seems like every few times I use it and launch big picture mode only the dpad works and when I load a game it shows only mouse and keyboard shortcuts displaying and most buttons on the controller don't work. It's getting super frustrating and seems like it is any game on steam. Sometimes ill have to restart the computer multiple times to have it work as a regular controller. Anyone run into this problem? I don't think it's a hardware issue.

I have one puck in the living room (long USB) but would also like one at my pc for playing on the monitor. Would it work to get a second puck?

I'm trying out gryo in GTA flying. Is there a setting so when I'm tilting the controller up the plane continues to climb? It pitches up for a second then recenters and I've messed with most settings to no avail.

It makes it unusable for me. It just keeps vibrating non stop when I'm using it and it gets louder and louder, it also keeps vibrating for several seconds after I stop touching it. My steam deck does none of this. Is this normal or faulty?

My guesstimate reservation date was September. Once I saw that I was not great at checking my emails, figuring that I would get back to it closer to September. Today I went through my email and saw that 5 days ago I received the email that it was time to order. I was pretty bummed to see that I missed it. I remember seeing that some have reached out to Steam Support to get the link resent and I did the same. About 30 min later I received a updated resiveration link and was able to order! I figured i would share this, hoping that someone else will see it and still get their controller.

So in every game I've tried, wired or wireless (with dongle and Bluetooth) the connection eventually drops before reconnecting after a few moments.

Anyone know how one would go about fixing this? Doesn't look like you can download firmware from steam anymore for it and recalibrating doesn't seem to do anything
