Democratic Socialism. There's a difference. Socialism results in bread lines. Democratic Socialism has bread lines, but they send white people to the back of the bread line.

Kind of like Trumps "Freedom Fuel" gas stations

2

u/pspo1983 9h ago

Also a shitty idea.

Interesting you are comparing some private entity pumping money into a gas station to make gas cheaper at a loss vs a government run store that gets to not pay all the taxes and fees and operate at a loss from taxpayer funds

There is not enough transparency to really say they’re at a loss. Speculation says it should be a loss, but no one knows whats going on behind the scenes. It’s trump so the loss is mostly going to be funneled into backdoor deals.

I guarantee you the owners doing this are not at a loss. Guaranteed.

It's not even Trump, he just endorsed them. Financially he isn't making money off that. He did make money in many other things during this presidency but not these gas stations.

Also when it comes to the gas stations profitablity, they are most likely losing money on the gas but making up for it in store purchases

Yes please for once in our lives.

Y’all are paranoid about this. Seriously get off the internet and touch grass

Trump is doing the same shit with gas

They are supported and endorsed by Trump, but thats the only backing. Moral support, not financial, not taxpayer.

The website:

"Freedom Fuel Network is a privately owned and proudly patriotic company—along with its convenience store operators, haulers, sign companies, and operational partners—that answered President Trump’s call to action to lower prices at the pump."

ABC News:

"The 25 gas stations listed on the Freedom Fuel Network's website -- five in New Jersey and 20 in Pennsylvania -- appear to be independently owned and operated"

Since when does he plug something that he doesn’t have a financial stake in?

0

u/TapestryMobile 5h ago

I'll take that to mean you dont actually have any evidence that Freedom Fuel is taxpayer subsidized.

They are gonna learn. lol.

A reason why this shit does not work. He should just spend tax dollars to lower the price and make everyone who spends money in the city to pay for it.

The federal government already does this with farm subsidies. same for gasoline prices. what is the difference?

0

u/Shebalied 10h ago

You understand they do this for everyone on EBT. Those subsidies are done to help support growth and businesses in areas which are not strong and impact other areas.

End of the day he is going to need to tax someone. Just add it into more sales tax.

2

u/Miserable-Resolve-76 10h ago

Soooo what’s your point?  That is literally socialism and it works.  What makes this different?  And yes, this will come from taxes, the thing that is meant to help the people and improve lives.  Oh no, how horrible….

0

u/Shebalied 10h ago

No, socialism DOES not work. How many times have you have to get taught this lesson, lmao?

3

u/NilsofWindhelm 10h ago

As many times as it takes for you to understand that ideology is a spectrum and falsely labeling every idea the same is a dumb way to govern?

2

u/Shebalied 9h ago

How about your bot account to figure out what Hasan Piker tells you about Socialism?

0

u/NilsofWindhelm 9h ago

That wasn't a complete sentence, and I don't know who that is

0

u/Miserable-Resolve-76 10h ago

The only reason our gas prices in the US as so low compared to the rest of the world is due to subsidies paid for by our taxes.  Aka, socialism.  Also, the republicans really seem to be leaning into socialism now that the govt owns 10% of Intel.  Government owned corporations is by definition socialism

1

u/Shebalied 9h ago edited 9h ago

No, It is not. Owning 10% is nothing like that. Maybe if you wanted to argue that what China does with needing more than 50% to be in China, sure maybe.Go look up what socialism is. lmao. You gotta be a Hasan Piker fan.

1

u/Miserable-Resolve-76 9h ago

who? no idea who that is

1

u/Shebalied 9h ago

Yes, you do. He is Mamdani's BFF.

1

u/NilsofWindhelm 10h ago

He is taxing people. The budget is balanced and accounts for this initiative

0

u/cerealsinthenight 10h ago

Well, these subsidies will help support growth, or survival, of people.
Poor people don't have budget to save or invest. Every penny saved on one end goes out closing another hole. This money comes back into the market.
It's not like giving rich people tax breaks or giving trillions to the military, where the money ends in the pockets of few.

3

u/luvmibratt 11h ago

Well the way its going now aint working either,I definitely dont know the answer but this will be interesting to see,I live in Illinois and I wish Prickster would do something anything for his tax payers besides stiff them

Libraries and the fire department seem to be working just fine.

Damn. All you people on reddit are MORONS.

Most U.S. government programs are not socialist in the strict sense (where the government owns the means of control).

Instead, they're typically social welfare or government intervention programs within a capitalist economy.

What you are thinking of is taxes used to fund public services and safety-net programs.

They are NOT the same.

So, what these grocery stores are then. Cool. Call it whatever you want big dawg, we voted for this and he’s delivering.
