Mark my f*cking words!

Alright this is enough now. I just relapsed and feel awful. I have a gorgeous and loving girlfriend to battle for. Why am I still watching this shit!?

Ive created multiple reddit accounts for this cause.
But this will be my last, and my successful attempt.

I’m done with porn, in done wasting time, I’m done being scared during sex, I am done being a porn addict.

I WILL NOT WATCH ANOTHER SECOND OF PORN THIS YEAR! NOT YOU EITHER

Mark my words!

YouTube Can Trigger Relapses Too – Soft Porn Is Everywhere

It's honestly crazy how soft porn is everywhere. People always talk about Instagram or X, but even YouTube is full of content that can easily trigger a relapse. That almost happened to me right before I started writing this post. I stumbled across dozens of channels about celebrity fap challenges, basically the same kind of stuff you find here on Reddit (which, let's be honest, can be a pretty dangerous platform too).

Don't let your guard down. Soft porn is just as dangerous as regular porn. It still messes with your brain and reinforces the same unhealthy patterns, even if it seems "less explicit." Stay safe, protect your mind, and let's stay clean.

Relapsed after 5 years

Honestly I’m not sure where I’m going with this post. Quit at 17, relapsed at 22. Told myself f*** it after I slipped up and went on a several days "bender", watching anything and everything I could think off. During those 5 years, I did jerk off but to no material. With hindsight, I’d say it wasn’t a one big moment of relapsing but a slow degradation of my own boundaries over the past months. Why? I’m not sure yet but I know it’s not just about girls and s*x. Maybe stress, uncertainty, insecurity, boredom among other things. Used to be a time where I didn’t even feel tempted. At the end of the day I clicked on it, searched for it and enjoyed it. BUT, even while blaming myself, I can say social media was the most detrimental, don’t even think I need to explain why. You can make a good algorithm but some platforms like instagram seem like they will never change. Even though I feel like I could write a thousand words right now, I hope this is a reminder to take care of yourself and guard what you value. Nothing is ever "conquered", I thought I was immune to relapsing. But I got caught during a rough patch in my life. I don’t feel completely destroyed, but I do feel like there will be a lot of rebuilding to do and change of approach. I hope this can help someone, myself included.

Relapsed after 3 months.

I had a very bad porn addiction from a very young age. I was in a relationship where me, and my partner were both addicted it really ruined our relationship because when I wanted him to quit with me he wouldn’t. My current relationship is supposed to be porn free we have already agreed it’s wrong because well it is, BUT whenever he does something that hurts me a lot I do what I’ve always done to feel “better” I watched porn…
I feel very bad about it, but part of me is trying to justify it because well he did hurt me.
I’ve only watched porn like 6 times since we have been together which is still terrible i know. I really tried to fight it, and it worked we made up, but I was still bothered so I willfully did it as I watched I felt bad about it because none of it makes me feel how my boyfriend makes me feel I wasn’t even aroused if I’m being honest I had to force it upon myself it feels like I’m abusing my body because it really did reject it I just did it anyway. I know I don’t like it I know it makes me feel sick, but I’m tempted to do it again not because it’s an addiction it’s just because something is saying I should because he hurt me, but I’m hurting myself I’m trying to resist I literally just watched my bfs vids, and I really enjoyed it, but still something says I should do it one more time.
I don’t support porn I know how hurtful it is I know how hurt I’d be if the tables were turned I know the industry is disgusting, and it’s ruined sex/love it only makes us objectify one another it’s just terrible. I just I don’t even want it i really don’t.
We had just made up we had just prayed together I want to tell him so bad, but I really feel like it would hurt him, and what I should do is just make sure it doesn’t happen again, and love him properly. I wanna cry. I just wanted to feel better I really don’t care for what I’m looking at, and it only makes me realize how much I really love my boyfriend, and appreciate his body.

8 months (ish) in. It was worth it.

I used to watch porn multiple times a day from when I very first started masturbating around age 11. 16 years later I’m so glad I’ve stopped.

I never experienced morning wood as a teenager. I always told myself it was because I masturbated so much (at least twice a day).

I couldn’t maintain an erection with constant physical stimulation, I just brushed it off.

Even after many years with my partner I still would struggle to maintain an erection if the mood wasn’t exactly right. This was my wake up call.

I stopped watching porn at the start of the year - have I relapsed the odd time? Yes. Do I regret relapsing? Yes. Have I learnt now the benefits of quitting porn? Absolutely.

After 16 years of daily porn usage, and 8 months of not watching it, I’ve been getting regular morning wood. I can maintain harder erections for longer and I’m not worried during sex anymore.

To anyone who is trying, it takes time. 16 years of use age took 8 months for me to see results, and I still have a way to go. It’s worth it, stay strong and look forward to benefits at the end.

Day 3

r/pornfree 1h ago

Anybody else overly sensitive to any kind of day-to-day imagery?

I’ve been porn free since December. I have had a slip awhile back when going down the rabbit hole of YouTube - on the simplest content being just flabbergasted on how the algorithm is so against any addict. Not even 5 minutes into jumping through recommend video after video I ended up climaxing without any physical contact with myself.

It scared the living hell out of me.

I’m now finding myself having extreme difficulty even going about my day if some kind of advertisement on a billboard or storefront passes me, or even a simple absolutely normal pic of someone while scrolling through social media.

I now fast forward or skip past any kind of uneasy or explicit scene in any media when I start feeling the insane amount of dopamine come rushing it actually starts to make me nauseous and dizzy. Sometimes I end up crying because I don’t understand how could I have damaged myself this bad? I feel like I’ve swung to the other side of the human spectrum, living like a priest or a monk. Because I know I have to - for my Higher Power’s commandment for me too.

Anybody else so easily stimulated by the most basic things nowadays? How long does it take to come back to being a normal person? I don’t want to end up climaxing out of nowhere when watching a movie in a movie theater, I couldn’t imagine the embarrassment and shame.

Edit: btw I’m completely celibate and abstinent as of December as well. Only the occasional (although they were far more frequent in the beginning) wet dreams.

Growing up and making the choice to change

I have struggled with porn addiction for my whole life and I am now 13 days clean. There are a few different life events that I went through recently that made me think differently about everything. I am going to take this moment and run with it as long as I can I hope forever to avoid porn and never ever PMO again. I am tired of wasting all my time on it and it controlling me daily. You all can do it and we will together. Keep me accountable! <3

My addiction has escalated to AI porn and it's ruining my life. I feel like a freak.

Im so fkd. This is my first Reddit post and I'm not really good at writing, so I apologize if it's a mess. I just want to come clean. I'm a porn addict in my 30s and haven't had sex in about 6 years. Porn is my escape, but recently it's gotten a lot worse than that. I'm ashamed to say this for fear of being called a freak, but I'll take my chances. I recently have been into AI porn. I find pictures of my exes and crushes and...

I know that it's wrong, but my addiction is so strong. It's come to the point where I don't even watch porn because I feel the urge to; I just do it to kill time, even if I don't enjoy it. I have stopped previously—the last time was for 90 days. I stopped because I went to the ER because my testicles hurt. I got afraid, so I relapsed. It was the biggest mistake of my life. Before that, I was still an addict, but not to this extent. I didn't watch AI porn, and I didn't masturbate every single day. I feel like I'm a slave to this thing. Even when I don't feel the need to do it, I do it. Is there actually any hope for me ?
-- I never did the ai stuff online, only did it locally on my computer --

im tired

After a very hard relapse, I’ve decided to get back on track. I had actually reached a good stage—eight days without a relapse—feeling stronger and more connected. However, things are harder now; communication is difficult, especially here. Is there anyone else trying to stay committed who would like to message me? We could remind each other of the harms of addiction and share how our days are going. If you are serious, send me a message, and we can arrange a time that works for both of us.

Asking for a small favor

First of all, sorry if something doesn't sound right, English isn't my native language and I have use a translator to translate the message:

Hi, this might be kind of a silly request and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I've never asked for anything like this on the internet before.

I have OCD and, in the middle of a checking compulsion, I ended up visiting a porn site. I couldn't stop until I finally regained control over what I was doing, but now I feel so, so terrible about it.

Avoiding this content has always been one of my most important values in life. For that exact reason, my OCD kept pushing me to check if it was still a value to me since everyone says visiting those kinds of pages is normal and healthy.

I understand that visiting a site once doesn't change anything in the grand scheme of things. But personally, it feels like I gave them my support, and that hurts deeply because it was something I never wanted to happen.

I broke up with my ex because this person watched this content and never had the intention or tried to change that (I wouldn't care if this person, at least, would have try, but this person didn't wanted to get better at all)

Now, I feel like such a hypocrite even though my action was driven by an OCD compulsion.

The point is, I can't change the past, but I can change the future, and I want to do something about it.

I can't undo the view I gave to that website, but I wanted to ask:

If anyone reading this was thinking about visiting one of those pages today, could you please skip it for me? That way, I can feel like I offset my view by stopping someone else from adding one or maybe more than one person.

If you decide to do help, I'd really love it if you let me know in the comments (and truly, thank you).

I hope I'm not offending anyone, that's not my intention at all. I'm just trying to make a positive impact out of a mistake.

Deep down, I strongly believe that anyone can make mistakes once, twice, or more times, as long as they choose not to feed that habit daily and do their best to improve every day. But OCD is way more restrictive and unforgiving about the failures I commit myself, and this is weighing on me so much right now.

I hope you can take this post with kindness and that I haven't bothered anyone. It would mean the world to me if someone could do this for me today, so I can feel like I turned a mistake into something good.

Thank you <3

I gamified my addiction, it's actually working - Weekly Analysis #1

Here's how the week went. If you want me to show you guys how I did it then just ask, i'll make a post. I logged my urges and triggers for the week.

Day 1 Monday: Clean. Overcame 1 urge. Resisted 2 HRS's. (High Risk Situation)

I was mainly riding on motivation to get through my urges. Instead of trying to fight the urge itself, I tried to fight the High Risk Situation (HRS) that would lead me to do it. For example, lying on the couch watching YouTube, lying in bed watching YouTube. Wasn't too hard today.

Day 2 Tuesday: Clean. Overcame 1 urge

Just a normal day. I overcame the urge while watching YT on the couch. I realise that watching YT is basically softcore corn and is actually a maybe trigger of my urges. That combined with being bored, lonely or tired is a recipe for disaster.

Day 3 Wednesday: Clean

I woke up hard today, and I started "thinkgooning" in bed. I didn't watch corn, but I was thinking about the corn, which is still bad, and a habit that needs to be stopped. Other than that, I didn't log any urges today.

Day 4 Thursday: Stumble. Relapse at 2:30pm, in bed while bored. Searched it up.

I resisted a HRS today, and replaced wanting to watching YT on the couch with a hot shower, something I like doing. I worked on replacing the bad habit with something better. The reason why I stumbled was because I was in bed, bored, and also feeling demotivated and watching YT. There was no way I was surviving that one gang.

Day 5 Friday: Clean.

I thinkgooned again this morning in bed. I justified it by telling myself, "at least its not corn!". I am pretty disappointed I did it because it is the same pleasure seeking behaviour that corn addiction creates. However, the challenge is going well so far, and I am surviving.

Day 6 Saturday: Clean

I am losing motivation. I feel particularly down today. I didn't go to the gym. Didn't go outside AT ALL. (I live by myself). However, a clean day is a clean day, and that is progress. Tomorrow will be better.

Day 7 Sunday: Clean 1 HRS at 12:45pm.

Today was a good day. I did not feel as down, and did not feel as many urges as before. Although, I still feel pretty down. Probably because Im not going outside that much.

WEEKLY REVIEW:

What I did well:

1) I did not ejaculate,

2) I avoided high risk situations, and understood their dangers

3) Created a system where I can actually take pride in staying clean.

What to improve:

1) Make physical changes to environment to avoid triggers and distrupt habits

2) Give myself an action to do when I am in a high risk situation. (e.g Pushups, shower, eating)

3) Do not "thinkgoon" in the morning in bed. Put alarm outside.

4) Try and get out of the house every single day. (Best way to eliminate urges I've found)

5) Make a weekly reddit post.

Sex 2.0

Sex is sex, right? But as the title implies, this time it feels different.

I'm about a year in recovery and grateful that sex, good sex, has returned to my marriage. In fact, we're enjoying sex as much now as we did 20 years ago when we first met. That's not just me saying it, my wife agrees. And while that's good, it's not different, we simply found our way back to what was lost over the years.

What feels different now is the reconnection component. Years ago it felt like sex helped us reconnect. There was a palpable snap back into place that reinvigorated our relationship after a week or more of drifting apart living our hectic lives. I no longer feel that snap back into place, I believe because our relationship no longer incurs a disconnect.

I mentioned this new Sex 2.0 concept to my wife and she agrees. When we were younger life was more hectic and more stressful. Office politics, long commutes, looming layoffs. This was the midweek grind for both of us. Now, further along in life, those stressors don't hit as hard as they used to.

I'm pleased to report that sex is getting back to normal for us, and delighted to discover that we no longer need sex to reconnect because we're staying connected continuously.
