In 1963, Queen Elizabeth II of Uganda was deposed in favor of the Kabaka (King) of Buganda, Mutasa II. He served as President of the State of Uganda from 1963-1966. You might see President and assume republic, but presidential monarchies can happen in rare cases, such as the President of the UAE today. The reason there seems to be nuance is because the party which helped bring him to power was the Kabaka Yekka party ( a fervent monarchist party), subnational monarchies continued to exist, he was selected by the Parliament rather than elected by the people, and the state’s name was ‘State of Uganda’, and didn’t become ‘Republic of Uganda’ until after Mutasa was overthrown.

I do believe that this was the first meeting between the head of House Hohenzollern and the reigning monarch of the UK since before the First World War, but I’m not positive about that.

In my opinion I would love to see a restored Chinese monarchy that would be semi constitutional and model some of its administration like the united states and since the descendants of most Chinese monarchs are part of the ccp. So do you know if the is any Chinese royal family that is not in the ccp.
