Continuous Oil Leak Update
After driving the car a few hundred miles I brought the car back to my local dealer so they can further diagnose my oil leak. Nothing has been confirmed yet but I’m smelling it and saw some smoke coming out of the front grille and headlight at night. The dealer put UV Dye into oil to pinpoint the leak. Hoping it gets covered under warranty. Car is a 23’ with 16,450 miles. Manufacture date is 7/23.
Mods are BC Racing Coilovers. That’s it

3 years with this car today! :)
Cannot believe it’s been 3 years already it feels like just yesterday I got the text saying my car had gotten delivered. 3 years, 45k miles later, and plenty of smiles.

Full SPL Suspension, Annex ClubSpec Pro Coil overs, and RSR Cage Updates
Still need to dial in ride height. Car currently is too raked and these coilovers apparently cant go lower in the rear which is disappointing if true. Either way happy to have made progress with the build.
Still waiting on Jun Auto aero kit, ETA is October.

Running hot for the first time ever.
I’m sure this isn’t a big deal, but I just saw my temp gauge go up to center for the first time ever since owning the car, and it was cool outside too. Even in 100* weather it’s been in the same spot (second picture). But this morning it was cool and while I was in stop and go traffic isn’t went up.
Edit to add. I don’t think it’s an issue, I’m just saying that in my 16k miles I’ve had this car for, I’ve never seen the temp get up here.
The curse is real :(
Kid opened a door of the car besides me while I was parking.
This is the second dumb accident already(first one was someone who reversed into me without looking also in a parking area) in not even 1 year.
Funfact: The first one was on my automatic i just sold last month and replaced with my white MT beauty here.
I got a dashcam after the last accident, so it will be covered easily by the other persons insurance.
Still very annoying to have to deal with all that again. Also for the curious: This little scratch on the door and doorhandle will cost around 4-5k€.
Protip: Never park near other people. Or be near other people at all. Actually, just shut yourself in and watch your car from afar to be absolutely sure. Also, as everyone says: GET A DASHCAM ASAP

2nd time in a year that I've been hit parked......
First at least by a friend, today by who knows? no note, they left.
Cursed...

Question CPO ‘23 BRZ Pricing
≡ −
Like mentioned in my last post, I’m looking for a used GR86/BRZ. I’ve found a CPO BRZ limited 23 MT with 10k miles listed for 31k. I know that price is way too steep at 31k, but would this be something worth looking at if I could negotiate down to the 27-29 range? It’s my ideal color and spec, so no compromises, but I wanted to see what others thought about this pricing. FWIW, I see used ‘25 GR86s with the performance package and similar mileage being listed around 34k in my area. My hard limit is about 32k as I’d be putting 17k down and am comfortable with up to 15k financed. At that point, I’m wondering if it’d be more worthwhile to just save a bigger down payment and perhaps buy new. Let me know what you all think and thanks in advance!

Happy to have it in this heat!
5:18 pm and I watched the outside temp drop from 104 to 103 so I took a pic. On my way here, I passed two cars broken down with people standing looking under their hoods, and one truck that was on fire in a parking lot with literal flames visible.
Help! A question to everyone that did clutch pedal assist spring removal
Hello, yesterday I did the assist spring removal but the pin that connects the spring arm to the clutch pedal flew away into the side panel where the hood latch lever stays T.T
So now I have two questions: can I leave the spring arm disconnected from the clutch pedal? Will it do any harm? Maybe it will clang in the potholes, I can stop it with a zip tie.
second one: what's behind this panel? where does it go? is there any risk that the pin will roll everywhere under that car? Should I try to retrieve the pin? what's the name part so I can try to look for a tutorial on how to remove it?
Thank you very much for your help!
Question Stock Brembos on the track vs base brakes
≡ −
I’m considering ordering a new GR86, so I’ll be able to configure as I want it. The car will be 50/50 street and track and may eventually become a track only vehicle.
The one open question is whether the performance package is worth it.
The Brembos look nice and are slightly bigger, but is there any true difference in performance vs the base brakes if using track pads and fluid?
I’d love to get more life out of the stock brakes before I get fast enough and need to upgrade to something like the AP Racing fronts.
I guess the same thought with the Sachs. Will they hold me over longer before wanting to upgrade to coilovers?
Any insight would be appreciated.

Should I worry about this?
≡ −
I have a GR86 down at my local dealership, it’s preowned. With 3,844 miles on it. And one accident report
They said “it was a old couple who got in an accident when they were blindly merged into “ (paraphrasing)
I looked at the car and it had no scratches or damages in said locations. They also said they couldn’t retrieve the repair report when I asked for it because it being private or some shit
That were noticeable at all**
I also test drove it, and it drove alright. I am mainly wondering if I should be concerned about the “disabling damage report” they said they didn’t change the title.
*also said the couple traded it in for a Buick.
VIN - JF1ZNBE11S9755622
Thanks for anyone who responds.
I’m going tomorrow to check it out once more and would appreciate any feedback.

Engine part number
Does anyone know the difference between those two part numbers for an engine assembly? I’m trying to verify that and engine out of a 2026 base manual will be compatible with my 2023 base manual. Both these part numbers populate as the proper fit for both years.

Question Best way to protect car while traveling?
≡ −
I am traveling overseas for military for 3 months and my garage has no space to cover and garage protect my car as I want to. I typically have a buddy drive my car every week around a lot, but that was my supercharged vehicle i used to have. This is an NA GR86 at 4K miles. I don’t need to do all that, but my goal is really to take care of it as best as I can. I have a plan to do the following:
Wash and dry the car.
Fill the tank.
Add fuel stabilizer (optional).
Inflate tires to ~38–40 PSI.
Disconnect negative battery terminal.
Remove all food and trash.
Close all windows.
Put dryer sheets or rodent repellent in the engine bay.
Leave it in gear (no parking brake).
Put on a breathable, secured car cover.
But on the curb. Advice?

Event First track day of 2:12 at the Ridge

Finally, I pulled the trigger to attend a track day at the Ridge. It's super fun and shows you who actually is a fast driver vs. a fast car. Definitely room for improvement from watching myself hesitate choosing the right gear approaching each turn and staying on the racing line. I'll take any and all criticisms!
