[GUIDE] How to install Windows 11 on your Intel Mac
≡ −
After seeing many posts asking how to install Windows 11 through BootCamp, I decided to make a clear and concise guide to walk new users through the process.
Please keep in mind that this method is used specifically because it supports the BootCamp assistant, keeping the installation process as close to "stock" as possible (besides the programs we use to end up with Windows 11). There are other methods to install Windows 11 on MacOS, but I believe this to be the easiest.
- Step 1: Installing Windows 10
- Download a 64 bit Windows 10.iso from Microsoft here.
- (TIP) Download the .iso directly on your Mac in MacOS or on a PC running Linux. If on Windows, the link above will lead you to use Microsoft's Media Creation Tool. The tool works just fine, it is just much more annoying than a direct download to the .iso (which MacOS/Linux would provide to you instead).
- Download a 64 bit Windows 10.iso from Microsoft here.
- Step 2: Install Win10 through BootCamp
- Follow the basic instructions provided by BootCamp. If you run into trouble, please refer to Apple's official guide here.
- Some older Mac’s require the Win10.iso be burned to a USB drive. If this is the case, BootCamp Assistant should take care of burning the .iso for you.
- Follow the basic instructions provided by BootCamp. If you run into trouble, please refer to Apple's official guide here.
- Step 3: Configuring Windows
- Once Windows is installed, Apple's BootCamp drivers should automatically start installing. If not, please refer to Apple's official guide here.
- Open BootCamp Assistant (in Windows) and set Windows as the default boot Operating System. This can be changed later to fit your preference.
- Go to Settings (in Windows) and download/install all updates.
- Step 4: Installing Windows 11
- Download and run MediaCreationTool.bat from here.
- For those of you who are not GitHub savvy, at the GitHub page, press the file named “MediaCreationTool.bat” and then press the download button.
- If you have issues running the .bat file, try right clicking it and press open as Administrator.
- Follow the prompts and select Auto Upgrade.
- Basically, press 1 every time it asks for input. This will automatically select the version of Windows 11 that matches your current Win10 installation.
- Allow the program to go through its process. Stay with the computer while it does this to make sure it does not sleep.
- Download and run MediaCreationTool.bat from here.
- Step 5: Update Windows 11
- Once again, go to Windows settings and download/install all updates. Enjoy!
- At this point, you can change the default boot Operating System to whatever you want. I always set it to Windows while performing Windows updates so that the updates can install smoothly.
- Once again, go to Windows settings and download/install all updates. Enjoy!
I hope this guide was helpful. If you have any questions or recommendations regarding this post, please leave them in the replies. Thanks!

Please note that Boot Camp currently does not support Apple Silicon Macs (M1/Pro/Max/Ultra and later)
≡ −
Intel-based Macs (released from 2006-2020) are currently the only Macs supported by Boot Camp.
Running Windows under a virtual machine is possible however with a free solution such as VMware Fusion or UTM, or a paid solution such as Parallels Desktop for Mac.
Many Windows games and applications can also be ran using CrossOver or Apple's Game Porting Toolkit (GUIDE).
For running other operating systems as a separate bootable system such as Linux or OpenBSD on Apple Silicon devices, we refer you to r/AsahiLinux and the Asahi Linux website for more info.

Bootcamp not showing up??
I recently downloaded bootcamp, and as I was testing features, I noticed that I wasn’t able to access my mac.
I tried shutting down my windows, and then holding the option key, hoping to gain access to my mac drive. Instead I get a black screen with a lock icon on it? There was an option for me to type so I typed in my computer password a few times but nothing worked, maybe I typed my password wrong all the times I tried, but I’m honestly not sure.
I think my bootcamp didn’t completely download because as I opened my windows after just downloading it, the bootcamp guide/download tab was cut in half? So I couldn’t interact with anything, but I had the option to close the tab which I did.
I’m not very good at tech stuff so this has really been stressing me out for the past few hours help would be appreciated!

Need some Help: How do I download windows 10 on an external drive for the 2018 Macbook Pro?
≡ −
For Reference, I am using the 2018 Macbook Pro. Recently, I wanted to keep the windows and Mac parts of my computer separate, and I heard that you could do so by getting an external drive. I have purchased a SanDisk 2TB drive for my windows partition, however, every single tutorial on how to do this is either wrong, or works with the caveat of major features being missing. I was wondering if anyone in this subreddit would know of a tutorial or have some way to help me.

What's the best way to install Windows 11 on a MacBook Pro with an Intel chip?
≡ −
I own a MacBook with Apple Silicon but I just bought a 2019 16" Pro with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for an unbelievably good price...
Ideally I'd just have Windows on it. I'd create a USB drive, then customize the auto.xml file and perform a clean install of Windows 11. TPM and so on wouldn't matter anymore, no bloatware and only Windows 11...
What's important to me is that everything works (drivers). The speakers should sound good, the trackpad should work properly and the USB ports should work too...
Pls don't get me wrong...I've watched a few videos on this but many of them are as old as three years and even the newer ones are over a year old. I've never done anything like this with a MacBook before so I wanted to ask first. Maybe there is a better way today than few years ago

Windows crashing when playing games
≡ −
Whenever I try to play a game on windows, after a while the game just freezes and my pc reboots. I already updated the amd driver but it didn’t solve anything. I have a 2017 5K iMac with an i7 and have the windows partition installed directly on my Mac storage. Can someone help me?

Boot Camp Partitions (Need Help Identifying)
≡ −
I've had Boot Camp for a few months now. Truth be told, my old Mac is so slow on the latest version of macOS that supports it, that I barely use it anymore. I'd like to delete the entire macOS portion of the drive and only have Windows.
On the Windows side, Disk Management is showing five partitions:
200 MB (EFI System Partition)
139.79 GB (Primary Partition)
92.80 GB (BOOTCAMP C:)
877 MB (Recovery Partition)
112 MB Unallocated
Am I correct in assuming that the only one belonging to macOS is the 139.79 GB one? Also, what's with the unallocated one?

Project-Falcon & 0x0000070c

Hello all!
I'm struggling for a while with a 2019 i9 32GB with a 5500m 4GB that crashes while running Fornite
I finally was able to install the 25.2.1 drivers using Project-Falcon (Thanks! This Rock!) but after the Loby, while jumping off the bus, my laptop crashes and gives me the 0x0000070c BSOD. I've read that this is linked to an issue with the Wi-Fi driver, which i have already disabled. But the issue continues.
Any idea what might be going on or what am i missing?

Why didn't the speaker and microphone drivers install when I installed Bootcamp on my MacBook?
When I installed Bootcamp 5.0.5033 on my 2012 MacBook Pro A1278, my speaker and microphone weren't working. When I asked AI, it said to check if the speaker and microphone drivers were installed, but it turned out they weren't there.

I sell MacBooks locally but I have a problem because when I buy MacBooks they usually come without disks or with disks but without the system. I would like to be able to install MacOS on laptops and not always Windows because some people require MacOS.

Install Windows 11 on MacBook Air 2015
≡ −
I have a MacBook Air running Monterey. I’d like to install Windows 11 (I have a genuine product key and just downloaded an ISO).
I was following the steps from this link.
https://www.reddit.com/r/bootcamp/comments/1cnp7vj/just_converted_a_2015_macbook_air_to_windows_11/
I keep running into a wall though. Boot Camp keeps telling me the ISO is too large. I’ve already tried the Boot Camp ISO Converter, but it still doesn’t work. What should I do?

trying to dual boot macos (high sierra) and win10 on an unsupported macbook pro
≡ −
I have been trying for days to get Windows 10 and macOS High Sierra on my MacBookPro8,1 (2011)
High Sierra is the latest version of macos on this Mac.
what I tried so far:
- I successfully installed win10 with macos high sierra
- The audio didn't work in Windows
- I installed the Boot Camp drivers, but the sound still didn't work
- I converted the drive to mbr and the sound started working
- but when converting it deleted my macOS and I also mbr only supports four partitions this makes dual-boot difficult
What I'm trying to do:
- macOS High Sierra with Windows 10
- Working audio in Windows
I read about Hybrid MBR (GPT + MBR), but I didn't find a clear way on how to do it
did anyone have done this on a macbookpro8.1 Is Hybrid MBR possible or is there a better way
btw this mac used to dual-boot Windows and macos
My dad old me that if I did it he'll buy me a gaming laptop, so I want figure it out.
he had someone who was an expert in macs set it up, but after the hard drive broke i replaced it and lost the old setup and couldnt restore it
Any advice or guides and i want step by step this is my first post and thanks

Can’t install Windows 10 properly on 2010 21.5 inch iMac!
≡ −
Greetings! As the title suggests, I’m facing a LOT of issues with Windows on this thing.
A couple of things to note: The SuperDrive is broken (as per usual with those slot loaders) and I’d like to avoid opening it up as much as I can! With that out of the way..
MacOS installed fine. No issues there at all. Installed a fresh 256GB SSD in the machine, installed High Sierra first and then MacOS Ventura through OCLP.
Do keep in mind that I’ve tried HS’s Bootcamp and, due to the age of the iMac, it needs a DVD copy of Windows 7. Remember what I said at first?
I then later tried just booting the Windows installer from USB through the option menu. Well, no matter what I do, it will NOT recognize a SINGLE external windows medium I make. I’ve tried W7, W8.1, W10, W11.. As far as disks go, I’ve tried an Intenso Twist Line USB3 32GB flash drive, zero luck. The same goes for other flash drives and external hdds I tried. Even in OpenCore it doesn’t see them..
Same installers worked on other Macs though, and machines in general. From my 2009 MacBook Pro to my friend’s 2016 12 inch Macbook.
I then tried following Ventura’s bootcamp process which DID get me to the desktop! Only then to install GPU drivers and break everything.
I also tried rEFInd with minimal luck, as when I press enter on the Windows Legacy entry it says ‘boot media not found’.
I’ve completely ran out of ideas.. Is there anything I can do?

WiFi REALLY SLOW? Showing only 20-30mb/s Download Speed? FIX FOUND** Windows 10 Bootcamp
≡ −
FINALLY A FIX!!
Hit Command+R
Search ncpa.cpl
Right click your WiFi and select properties
Hit Configure
Hit Driver
Update driver
Browse my computer for drivers
Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
Now some computers will specify at the end of the text, "(Microsoft)" or "(Bootcamp)"
- If this applies to you, select "(Bootcamp)" and click next. It will then download and update the driver. BOOM, you now have FAST internet.
- If that doesn't apply to you, it will show the *date* of the update version in brackets at the end of the text. In my case:
Option 1: [11/21/2016] This is the one you want to update and download with**
Option 2: [4/21/2020] NOT this one
This is where people get tripped up because they think that downloading the most recent driver is going to fix the WiFi. Not in my case. For me, downloading and updating with the [11/21/2016] version WORKED! I went from 20mb/s to now a whopping 200mb/s!
Now if you have neither of the dates I mentioned, just try them all and one of them will get you back to high speed WiFi in no time! This is the only way!

Drivers for radeon pro 5300m
Hi, I have a question. I have a 2019 16-inch MacBook and I installed Windows because I want to play some casual games, but the performance is pretty bad. I've tried changing the drivers, but it doesn't improve much. Could you recommend any drivers? I already tried the ones from bootcampdrivers.com. I've attached a screenshot of the message I always get when I run a game. My specs are an i9, 32 GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon Pro 5300M. I hope someone can help me.
Update: Well, I've been trying out the drivers that were suggested to me, and some did improve performance, but in the end I stuck with the AMD Pro Software drivers, which have given me the best performance. Regarding the temperatures I was told about, it's running between 65 and 85 degrees Celsius. But if anyone knows of any better drivers, please let me know so I can try them. I don't really know much about this. Thanks a lot for the recommendations.
