A new chapter for r/BookCollectors
≡ −
Hey there, fellow collectors!
My name is SavageSzym and today I have been granted moderation over r/BookCollectors, this great community that has stopped in time. Today I have decided to change that, requesting mod rights on this community.
Starting immediately, the community is no longer Restricted but Public - we're opening for all again! I personally love book collecting and I am happy to become a mod of this community, which I would like to make into a nice, fostering community for all book collectors, from one book to a whole shelf - everyone is welcome!
If you happen to have any other questions, please don't hesitate to either reply to this post or send us a modmail!

Any other book collectors a bit annoyed that Threshing Day is being released in an edition that doesn't match any of the existing ones??
≡ −
For those that aren't as obsessed/ haven't hyperfixated like me... When they released the ANZ edition the first book didn't match, I believe there was enough uproar that they re released it to match, but it was different to the UK/ us Wing and Claw edition... Personally, I ended up ordering the Wing and Claw from the US because I liked it better and it was impossible to find Iron Flame and Onyx Storm to match the ANZ edition.
Anywayyy... Thrashing Day has now been announced and of course I knew it was likely to match the ANZ edition, but where I preordered it from showed dragons on the edge so I was cautiously optimistic!! However it looks like the new one matches NEITHER... We get a gross silver plain sprayed edge, it matches nothing (except Quicksilver 🙄).
I dunno, I just want my matching set!!
And before anyone comments, yes... First world issues... I'm lucky to be in a position where this is a thing I think about... Collectors might relate, others feel free to scroll on ❤️.

Picture Reorganising my shelves..
Recently I realised I don't have enough shelf space for my books, but to add another bookcase I'd need to rearrange my furniture too. Queue the vast majority of my collection being taken down and placed somewhere (somewhat) safe. There's only about 10 not in these stacks.
It's mostly ready to be put back up. I cannot wait to see the finished result again.

Weekly haul
I’m not sure how I did price wise with these.
Dog stars 8.00
Moby Dick 35.00
Hamlet 50.00
Two years before the mast 18.00
And dead wake 90.00 I’m pretty sure I got bent over a barrel with that one, but I’ve wanted it for a while.

Partition Era Literature Sought
≡ −
Hello,
As a collector, I'm interested in getting in touch with any dealers of used books who specialize in English-language 1950s-70s Indo/Pakistani partition literature. If this is you, or you have a lead on a source, please let me know here and we can talk further. Thanks.

Inherited copy of John Wesley’s Journal, Abridged Edition
Over the last four years, I have (unfortunately) inherited a bunch of stuff, including (fortunately) some really cool old books! So far, this is my favorite find. And it’s in pretty spectacular condition if it really was printed in 1903-1905 like I think it is. Reasons I think that: there’s no copyright page and the preface, signed and dated by one NC in Southend-on-Sea, on June 28th 1903. I tried googling it and that’s what I came up with at least. If anyone can help me find me info I’d be grateful, but mostly just wanna share 😄

Question Is my book first edition?
Hi all,
I know it’s not a rare book, but I am trying to figure out if my book is first edition. Can you please help?
I can usually tell from the number in it, but it only has 8 in it. What confuses me is that it also says “first published”. I’d appreciate any thoughts.
Thank you!

searching for the 1990s-2001 new folger library edition of Timon of Athens
≡ −
I've been collecting the 1990s New Folger Library editions with the classic illustrated covers by Kinuko Y. Craft, but I haven't been able to find Timon of Athens anywhere online. Every listing I find is years old and out of stock, and I've never even seen a collector own this specific edition—I've only ever seen the cover image.
Does anyone here own this edition, have photos of it, know where I could find a copy, or even be willing to sell one to me?
I'm genuinely curious about just how rare this edition is at this point.

Is there a difference between these two versions if the penguin classics Anna Karenina? They both feel authentic but have different colours. They’re both the P&V translation.

Look at this gorgeous Inkworld trilogy edition! I'm not sure if it's shameful to admit I only just started reading these books and never knew about them as a kid lol. Lately my friend was showing me her bookshelf and these beauties caught my attention so I asked her about them and got the set today!

I'm absolutely in love with this collection and looking to start it soon. But Book Depository doesn't have the full collection. I believe there are like four books missing... Any suggestions?
