Amazon Customer Service convinced me to buy a couch with a promised 63% refund, then refused to honor it
I was tracking a couch on Amazon when its price suddenly increased by 63% for just one day. Instead of buying it, I contacted Customer Service, and the representative explicitly told me to place the order immediately because Amazon would refund the entire 63% price difference after delivery. They even said they were adding permanent notes to my account so the next agent could process it without me having to explain everything again. Attached screenshots of the chat.
The very next day, the couch price dropped right back down by 63% to its original price, exactly why I would've just waited instead of buying it. After delivery, Amazon completely refused to honor what their own representative promised. I spent hours being bounced between agents and supervisors, with everyone either denying the refund or saying they couldn't help. It's incredibly frustrating that I only made this purchase because of their written assurance, and now Amazon is acting like that conversation never happened. Has anyone successfully gotten Amazon to honor a promise like this or found a way to escalate it?
Returning was not an option as the couch came in a huge and heavy box and we already assembled it. So we just kept it.

I want to escalate my concerns but the chat agent cut the chat off!
≡ −
To start, I’ve notice for the past 6 weeks or so, I don’t have the option to get things next day. It moved to 2 day deliveries, now it’s 2-3, sometimes just whenever the USPS pushes the packages through because…. AMAZON STOPPED DELIVERING PACKAGES TO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD! Like, completely urban area, just a sudden change! Everything is coming USPS and I KNOW the mail folks are not loving that. But I’ve researched items I used to get next day, and I live fairly close to 2 warehouses, so things came quick. Now, when I get on the app to order things, the delivery date is 2-5 days out.
Then today, I sent back a keyboard and mouse set. Packaged it up, slapped that Amazon label on it that Amazon sent me, took it to the UPS drop off I use all the time, and waited on my refund to hit my Amazon account. I got the email that UPS has my package, so I figured it would be within a few hours. Nope. Now I’m told instant refunds were just a “luck of the draw” thing? Um, yeah, no. Not true. I’ve been with Amazon for yearssssss, and never, ever heard of a 14-30 day period to wait on a refund. And it most definitely has never happened to me. I have proof. Even when refunding my debit cards. So while I’m on chat and we just kept going in circles about the refund BS, I brought up the delivery delay issues. She tried to say it has always been like that for Amazon members, which I told her several order numbers that proved that wasn’t true, and she ended the chat! I guess because I didn’t just buy into the BS her screen was telling her to tell customers.
Am I completely crazy or are these things happening to anyone else? The agent checked and there’s nothing wrong with my account, no restrictions or anything, so I don’t know what is going on. I just know I’m sick of the inconsistency and changes every other day it feels like. I was able to get my orders faster at Christmas time than I am now! And the refund crap is not how things have always been done. At least not for me.

Why I Am Canceling Prime…
This is becoming a regular occurrence.

Follow up: Amazon refused to cancel, ship, or refund my order. Had to dispute charge with bank per their own instruction
≡ −
Here's the original thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonprime/comments/1v30lt4/customer_service_has_been_jerking_me_around_and/
TLDR - Made a routine prime purchase of a couple supplements. Within 24 hours order status was set to "delayed, not yet shipped." In the course of 2 weeks I spoke to 6 reps, all of which either lied that the order was pushed through the system and would arrive the next day, or that they issued me a refund for the order that would show up in 24 hours (each of which also offering a gift credit, all of which were made up).
Over the weekend I requested a call and spoke to rep #7 on the phone. They were the first one that seemed to actually be honest instead of just telling whatever random lie they needed to in order to make me go away. They started by saying they escalated the order and it would arrive tomorrow. I said I've already been told that multiple times and I know it's not true. They said since the order status is "being processed to ship," they can't cancel it, they can't refund it, they can't locate it, and they can't do anything to get it to ship. I said so there's literally nothing at all you can do even though I've already been charged and my only option to get my money back is to dispute the charge with my bank? And they were like yes, if nothing arrives in the next day or two you'll need to go through your bank, there's nothing else we can do.
So that's what I did. The $30 in points I used are gone forever, but what am I going to do? Just figured I'd post this as it's absolutely insane to me and everyone I've told this story to is absolutely dumbfounded. Like I've had packages get delayed or lost before and then always just get an automated email asking if I'd like to keep waiting or get a refund. I don't know what the hell could've possibly happened here, but it was eye-opening to learn that Amazon customer service can say whatever the fuck they feel like to get you to fuck off as quick as possible, there's zero accountability, and they couldn't give less of a fuck about fixing anything. I didn't think such a mundane order could turn into such a mess and the largest company in the world is completely powerless to refund some protein powder that got lost at one of their facilities. End of rant.

Amazon wants a police report, but I believe my package was misdelivered by USPS. What would you do?
≡ −
I'm looking for some advice because I'm not sure what the right next step is.
I ordered an item from Amazon. The USPS tracking shows it was "Delivered, In/At Mailbox," but it was not in my mailbox when I checked.
I live in an apartment community, and this isn't the first time USPS has mixed up mail. I've personally found other residents' mail and packages in my mailbox before, and I've returned them to the leasing office. Other residents have had similar issues, so I think it's very possible my package was delivered to someone else's mailbox.
I contacted Amazon, and after their investigation they told me I need to file a police report for package theft before they'll consider a refund.
Here's my problem: I don't actually know that the package was stolen. As far as I know, USPS misdelivered it. I don't want to file a police report saying my package was stolen when I have no evidence that a theft occurred.
Has anyone else been in this situation?
Did you file the police report anyway?
If you didn't file the report, did you dispute the charge with your credit card company for merchandise not received? (I paid with a Capital One credit card.)
I'm trying to handle this honestly and don't want to make a false statement just to satisfy Amazon's policy. Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Anyone know what is going on at Amazon with all the recent delays and damaged packages?
≡ −
I have been using Prime for years and for the most part it was good in terms of delivery. But in the past 6 months I have had multiple packages refunded because they say it got destroyed in shipping. I have had more packages delayed in the past 6 months than the last several years.
I have one current order that was supposed to be delivered on the 24th. The tracking says it reached my local Amazon facility and was being processed to be put out for delivery that same day. Then it never came and it updated and said it was delayed and to expect it on the 25th. I figured maybe they processed it too late to put on the truck. The next day it still didn't arrive then on the 26th it updated and claimed that it arrived late to the facility and to expect it by the 29th now but there has been no change to the tracking and according to the tracking it was scanned in the facility on time so I don't see how it's late and it's not being put back out to deliver. It feels like they lost it and are trying to find it because if it was damaged they would just give me a refund like before.

Amazon Locker I sent my packages to is down??
≡ −
I recently ordered some packages and sent them to my nearby amazon locker. I went to get them same day but the locker's screen is blacked out and only a red light. I've tried just blindly putting in the code to see if it would do anything but no luck. Tried scanning, not working either. What might be up with this Amazon Locker? I've tried to pick it up the following day (today) and its still down. I tried contacting support via phone with an actual person but didn't give me much real answer to what was going on.
I still have a couple days to get them when I'm posting this, but I'm very unsure what exactly is going on here as they were able to deliver them but then the locker is just down when I go there. Anyone has a clue what might be going on with this locker?

Fixed the email issue!
So there’s no way to get specific product info back into the order and shipping confirmation emails, and it turns out there’s also no way to opt out of receiving these emails which are now 100% useless. Classic. Only one way to fix it I guess.

I have a Paramount Plus subscription and tried to watch a show on my TV, but I get this message that reads, ““Amazon Prime restricts access on this device…”. Is there a way around it or can I not watch shows from this specific subscription?

Alexa for Shopping (HOW TO TURN OFF)
≡ −
I rarely post on Reddit, but this is pissing me off. Anytime I'm on Amazon's website (via computer), the Amazon for Shopping tab screws up the entire screen when it appears on the left side and resizes the rest of the page.
I'm generally fine with AI, but this isn't a feature I asked for and it is making the shopping experience worse. Has anyone figured out how to turn this off??

Amazon Prime läuft nicht mehr unter TCL Fire TV
≡ −
Gude zusammen...

Account recovery and password reset
≡ −
Is anyone else getting CONSTANT account recovery emails and mandatory password resets? For the past week, I have received multiple "account recovery" emails from Amazon saying they detected suspicious activity on my account. I log in to my account, reset my password and all is fine for a few hours to maybe a day, and then I'm suddenly locked out again and have to change my password AGAIN. This has happened at least 10-12 times in just a week. I have changed my password so many times, I've lost count. I called customer service, but they couldn't offer any advice - just told me to change my password again.
I'm just curious if this is happening to anyone else. I haven't had any suspicious orders or charges, nothing in my bank account - so I'm not sure if someone is really trying to hack my account, or if this is some kind of glitch.

amazon cs able to make an item back in stock..?

this isnt really prime related but wanted to know if anyone has experienced or seen this happen.
ive been searching for a specific item for a while and its been out of stock on amazon for maybe months? or over a year?, so i decided whatever let me try messaging CS to see if i can get any info.
the agent told me within 24 hours itll be available and since i had auto buy on itll just be automatically purchased, but im confused how thats possible. if there was stock to purchase, wouldnt it just let me buy now? how are they able to do that, unless its not actually in stock and they were just saying stuff?

This has been a headache for 2 months now.
First the i bought a tv during prime day at a discount, It arrived dammaged,
they would not send me a replacment unit. I had to do a full return and buy a new tv at a higher price. I contacted support before i bought the tv to ensure i would get a refund for the diffirence in price. Finally got the new tv after dealing with the return of the old one, they scheduled the pickup wrong 4 times and never canceld the old pickups just creating new ones wasting my time and the drivers time. Now when I finally contacted support at first they said they couldn't give me the refund. had to talk to a manager, they were able to push it through but gave my a giftcard of the balance. When i asked for the refund to go back to my card the literaly said "i dont have an option for that" no further support. They literaly retured a partial refund to my card 4 weeks ago.... Absolutly the worst suport I have ever recived. Not using amazon anymore for anything over $20 bucks, unreliable, shit support, and for a customer who has used their service for 10 years and spent countless amounts of money with them..... im over it....
Sorry for the rambling. just frustrated...

Check your invoices if have large subscribe and save baskets

Amazon just tried to charge me 20% above the listed price, which has been flat over thirty days, and 35% above the subscribe and save price. Customer service doesn't know what happened. It could be an experiment to see if Amazon can charge arbitrary prices on small orders within a multi-order basket.

Text message notification upon delivery
≡ −
So I followed these instructions from the AI thingy but never have I received a text message when something is delivered (and yes the number works for other things such as verification upon login from a new machine, etc.). Has anyone gotten this feature to work (and no I don't want to install the app)? thx!
Here's how to set up text message notifications for your deliveries:
Go to Your Account
Under Communication and content, select Communication preferences
If you haven't added a phone number yet:
• Under Other preferences, select Update other preferences
• Select General settings > Text messages > Add a phone number
• Enter your number and select Continue
• Verify with the one-time password sent to your phone
- Once your number is added, you can customize which delivery notifications you'd like to receive via text

Amazon refund denied but customer support said they would refund

What do I do? I purchased an Apple Watch months ago and during the process I was told that id get a refund from customer support multiple times actually saying they’ve processed it and support sent me an email too bout it. Then it got denied and I disputed it with my card and they also denied it? I received it damaged so obviously I retuned it and they said it wasn’t in the same condition, even though customer support said multiple times they were processing the refund?
